From May 20–21, 2025, the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) of SFB 1531 held its annual Summer School at the beautiful Seehotel Niedernberg. Surrounded by nature and a wonderful lake view, our doctoral researchers came together for two days of collaboration, inspiration, and relaxation.

The highlight of this year’s Summer School was an engaging group project: our PhD students were challenged to imagine and design a fictional Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) in the year 2035. Divided into two teams, they developed visionary research programs that not only demonstrated creativity and scientific foresight but also addressed future challenges. The resulting concepts sparked lively discussions and truly showcased the talent and innovation within our group.

Beyond the academic program, participants had the chance to unwind and connect in a relaxed atmosphere and a calming yoga session provided a welcome balance to the intensive workshop sessions.

We thank all participants for their enthusiasm and contributions — and we’re already looking forward to the next IRTG event!
