Pericytes and perivascular fibroblasts in the control of cerebral damage
Ischemic stroke triggers lasting remodelling of brain vasculature and stromal progenitor cells (SPCs). We will investigate how SPC-driven fibrosis, disrupted vasomotion, and impaired vascular function impact aging. Targeted intervention will test whether cadherin-11 inhibition restores vascular structure and function. Serum IGFBP4, lactylation, and targeted metabolomics in severe stroke patients will serve as translational vascular health markers. These integrated animal and human studies will establish mechanistic and therapeutic frameworks to prevent cognitive decline after stroke.
