Phosphatase control of vascular cell metabolism in inflammation and fibrosis

Project A09 addresses the roles of the protein tyrosine phosphatases PTP1B and SHP2, in controlling the metabolic reprogramming of myofibroblasts during neointima formation in response to arterial injury, and how they are affected by the oxidative stress factors, in particular age. The role of novel direct interaction partners of PTP1B in endothelial cells to control TGFβ signalling and metabolic inflammation via membrane lipid raft signalling, vesicle exocytosis and transcription factor stability in the nucleus will also be determined.
