Post-ischemic neovascularization in cardiovascular damage protection
We have shown a critical role of APP/APLP2 in post-ischemic neovascularization after myocardial infarction as well as beneficial effects of blocking the function of GPR182/ACKR5. The aim of the project is therefore to further analyze the underlying mechanisms and to explore the role of APP/APLP2 and GPR182/ACKR5 in the regulation of angiogenesis after myocardial infarction at an advanced age and under the condition of obesity-associated type 2 diabetes. Finally, novel therapeutic strategies based on the identified mechanisms will be developed and tested.
