Our final IRTG 1531 Summer School of the first funding period of SFB 1531 took place from 18-19 May in Weilburg – what a way to wrap it up: We started with an inspiring (and entertaining) AI workshop by Sascha Vogel from science 42 about the good, the bad and the ugly of AI. There were lots of discussions and creative ideas… and somehow we even ended up creating an SFB song (Not sure if Spotify is ready for us yet). We also had a session on career development with advice and honest insights from Ingrid Fleming, Mauro Siragusa and Guillermo Luxán and many PhD students sharing their dreams for the future, but also the doubts and fears that naturally come with leaving the PhD bubble behind.
And of course, no Summer School is complete without some social activities: bowling, lots of laughs and a canoe trip on the Lahn – including impressive locks and only minor paddling chaos.
So now we say goodbye to the PhD students of the first funding period with a laughing and a crying eye, and wish them all the best for whatever comes next. At the same time, we’re super happy to already welcome new PhD students – and even happier that SFB 1531 gets to continue into a second funding phase.
